We are seeking an exceptional Head Chef to lead the kitchen at our well-established, high-volume fresh food venue. With over 45 years of history, our property blends heritage charm with a modern gastro offering, featuring a 13-bedroom boutique hotel, a private cottage on the grounds, and a thriving events business including weddings and outdoor terrace dining.
This is a rare opportunity for a passionate and driven chef to take the reins of a kitchen operating to a 1AA Rosette standard, with the ambition to maintain and build upon that level of excellence, in one of the small but proud groups jewell in the crown venue.
The Role
As Head Chef, you will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership of a busy kitchen, delivering consistently high-quality, fresh food across multiple service areas. You will work closely with an experienced Executive Chef, while also collaborating directly with a hands-on and supportive owner who remains actively involved in the business.
The venue hosts a diverse mix of trade, including:
High-volume gastro dining
Weddings and private events
Seasonal outdoor terrace service
Key Responsibilities
Lead, inspire, and develop a green, ambitious kitchen team, fostering a culture of growth and longevity
Maintain and elevate standards in line with 1 AA Rosette expectations
Deliver fresh, seasonal, and innovative menus across all service areas
Ensure smooth, efficient kitchen operations in a high-volume environment
Work collaboratively with senior leadership on menu direction and business growth
Uphold strong standards of food safety, hygiene, and cost control
About You
Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef in a quality, fresh food environment
Strong background in high-volume gastro or boutique hospitality venues
Passion for mentoring and developing junior chefs
Calm, organised, and resilient under pressure
Creative flair with a solid understanding of seasonal British cuisine
A team player who thrives in a collaborative, owner-led environment

£45k, plus bonus and TRONC split an additional £15,000

Requirements
Ability to commute/relocate:
Chester; Reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
Passion for teamwork, commitment, strong communication, and growth.
Minimum 1 year as Sous Chef at 1AA rosette or higher, with 7 years experience +
Licence/Certification:
Level 3 Food Hygiene Certificate (required)
H&S level 2 (required)
Allergen Training MIN level 1(required)
