Following a recent refurbishment, a much-loved country pub is entering an exciting new chapter. Deeply rooted in the local community and proudly family-run, are creating the kind of place people travel for but locals call their own – somewhere with roaring fires, proper pints, warm welcomes and seriously good food.

Think less corporate kitchen and more modern British pub with character. Honest cooking, great ingredients, local suppliers and standards that punch well above their weight.

We're looking for a talented and enthusiastic Junior Sous Chef to join the close-knit team and help take our food offering to the next level.

The Role

Working alongside the Head Chef and kitchen team, you'll play a key role in delivering consistently excellent food while helping to develop a positive, supportive kitchen culture.

You'll be involved in:

* Preparing and delivering quality dishes using fresh, seasonal ingredients.
* Supporting the day-to-day running of the kitchen.
* Assisting with menu development and daily specials.
* Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, organisation and food safety.
* Training and encouraging junior team members.
* Working closely with local suppliers and taking pride in provenance and quality.
* Helping create the sort of food guests talk about long after they've gone home.

About You

* Previous experience as a Chef de Partie looking for the next step, or an existing Junior Sous Chef.
* Passionate about British produce and proper pub food done exceptionally well.
* Calm under pressure with strong organisational skills.
* A team player who enjoys being part of a close-knit environment.
* Someone who cares about standards, consistency and attention to detail.
* Ambitious, eager to learn and excited to grow with the business.

Requirements

Ability to commute/relocate:

Powys: Reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Driving will be essential to the location in this role


Experience:

Min 5 years of culinary experience,

Casual dining, volume and quality driven

Volume / catering experience

Confident knowledge of casual dining, EHO requirements

Passion for teamwork, commitment and growth in a remote area


Licence/Certification:

Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (minimum required)

H&S level 2 (required)

Allergen awareness training (required)


Work authorisation:

United Kingdom (required) only, no sponsorship is available at this time
