Greater Manchester, UK

Full time - Permanent

About the Role

Fresh produce. Bold ideas. Food with a little more thought behind it, oh and did we mention DAYTIMES ONLY?

We're looking for a Sous Chef who gets excited about fresh ingredients, loves experimenting with flavours and understands that great food doesn't have to be complicated to be exceptional.
This is an opportunity to join a fresh food café where seasonality, creativity and quality sit at the heart of the kitchen. With a small, regularly changing menu and fresh produce arriving daily, you'll have the chance to put your own stamp on the food, develop new ideas and help create something that keeps people coming back for more.
We're talking house-made pickles, interesting preserves, fermentation, clever flavour combinations and making the absolute most of the ingredients in front of you.

Not just opening jars of pickles, but knowing how to make them yourself!

What makes this role different?
You'll be working closely with the kitchen team to bring fresh ideas to life, making the most of seasonal ingredients and developing a menu that stays exciting without becoming unnecessarily complicated.
You'll have the freedom to get creative, experiment with flavours and help shape a rotating menu that reflects the produce available and the personality of the café.
Alongside the creative side, you'll play a key role in running the kitchen day to day, supporting and leading a small team, maintaining high standards and ensuring every plate leaving the kitchen delivers on quality and consistency.

It's hands-on, practical cooking with plenty of opportunity to contribute.
Who are we looking for?

We're interested in a chef who cares about what goes on the plate and, just as importantly, how it gets there.
Someone who:

Has a genuine passion for fresh food, seasonal ingredients and cooking from scratch.
Enjoys experimenting with pickling, preserving, fermentation and flavour development.
Can bring ideas to the table and turn them into dishes that work on a real menu.
Understands the importance of reducing waste and making the most of fresh produce.
Is confident supporting and motivating a small kitchen team.
Can balance creativity with organisation, consistency and commercial awareness.
Wants to develop their skills and have a genuine influence on the food being served.

You don't need to be running a Michelin-starred kitchen or creating complicated tasting menus. We're looking for someone with curiosity, enthusiasm and the ability to turn good ingredients into great food.

What's on offer?
Daytime café hours, offering a different pace to traditional restaurant kitchens.
The opportunity to contribute to menu development and bring your ideas to life.
A fresh, seasonal approach to cooking with a regularly rotating menu.
The chance to develop your skills in pickling, preserving, fermentation and creative food preparation.
A hands-on leadership role within a small team.
Not only a great hourly rate and finished on shift by 3pm, but a further £300 per month TRONC on top.

An environment where your input matters and your creativity is encouraged.
Ready to do more with fresh food?

If you're a Sous Chef who enjoys getting hands-on with ingredients, thinking creatively and being part of a kitchen that values quality over shortcuts, we'd love to hear from you.

This is your opportunity to take your cooking beyond the everyday, develop your own ideas and help create food that people remember.
