Client visit to a really progressive part of the North today, it really is an up and coming/mini Alderley Edge, and so it should, its lovely here…
I was delighted to be greeted by a friendly, super professional welcome, without even finishing my sentence, I was looked after and guided to my client! ☕️
Roaring warm fire in the corner, some friendly locals enjoying a quiet pint, great vide and super friendly service happening.
I see many venues, and you dont awlays get a great greeting, or a warm fire, or great atmosphere, so how do you expect to thrive in these challenging times?
The client was super passionate and accommodating to my questions and conversation to understand their needs, but super honest about the business “another recruiter” and ambition in the near future.
They were super clear that recruitment for them before hasnt worked, that the agency previously just wanted to send what “Chef” they had signed currently, and not really understood the venue, or vision of the client, subsequently, it didnt work, so im already under a microscope, understandable. But very prepared to work WITH the team, not just cut and paste anyone hoping for the best….
Its a well known fact that every pound made in hospitality, 55% goes immediately to VAT, then overheads are deducted, so being clear, the typical profit on a pint is around 15 pence! So, go for a walk, get a pint, maybe two, and stop for a bite to eat, it will literally change the direction its currently being driven to.
IF you have a local near you, if you dont use it, you will lose it, cheeky pint, enjoy a good plate, even a coffee shouldnt be impossible, but above all, support local. Have we become more demanding? We may be dining out less, and expecting more, but quite honestly, i want a good local, that looks after me, i work hard for what i earn and its a luxury to dine out i dont take for granted…
And these guys hold my favourite drink to high regard, go on guys!
